Merger — time to vote on profession’s future

01 July, 2009

Members eligible to vote will have received, by e-mail or post, voting materials from Electoral Reform Services earlier this month. These include the prospectus, charter, bylaws, regulations, special general meeting resolutions and notices and a proxy form. These documents, together with other merger information, are available at www. actuarialmerger.com and www.actuaries.org.uk

The merger vote was launched in early June with a leafl et and a letter to all members, including students, from the Faculty president and the Institute president.

The SGMs will take place at 17.00 BST on 23 July 2009: Faculty at Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and Institute at Staple Inn Hall in London. To make sure your vote counts, please complete and return your proxy form by 17.00 BST on 20 July (for Faculty) and by 17.00 BST on 21 July (for Institute).

How do I vote?
Members eligible to vote can complete and return a proxy form, nominating and directing your proxy to vote according to your wishes. You can complete and return the proxy form electronically or by post, but you may only use one method to submit it. Any attempt to submit a form more than once will be detected. Please return the entire proxy form, as part-forms will not be counted.

I am a student — can I vote?
Associates and fellows of the Faculty and the Institute and honorary fellows of the Faculty are eligible to vote. Students, affi liates of the Faculty and the Institute and honorary fellows of the Institute are not eligible to vote. All members (including students, affi liates of the Faculty and the Institute and honorary fellows of the Institute) have been sent information about the merger in order to be kept aware of the issue and to play a full part in discussions with colleagues.
