The Profession is reviewing its provision of online information resources to ensure members continue to receive support in their studies, work and on-going professional development. The survey is open until mid-May and the results of the questionnaire will be published in The Actuary.
Actuarial research conference
The University of Kent will host the Actuarial Teachers’ and Researchers’ Conference, 3-4 July, in Canterbury. Day one will concentrate on risk management, while day two will cover a wide range of research topics and presentations on educational topics. Do you really know the characteristics of your liabilities?
A presentation about the shortcomings of valuation cashflows when used for other purposes, such as investment strategy design, will be the topic for discussion at the Institute sessional meeting on 2 June. The meeting will be hosted by the Bristol Regional Society at the Clifton Pavilion, Bristol Zoo. The meeting will start at 5pm. Access more than 200 journals direct from your computer
The Profession is looking for members to take part in a trial of Athens, an online service to authenticate and authorise users of online information resources. It provides one point of access for multiple online resources. The Profession currently provides the Annals of Actuarial Science, the British Actuarial Journal, around 200 quality research journals and the Economic and Social Data Service. If you would like to participate in the trial, please e-mail libraries@actuaries.org.uk for login details.
