Jack Turnquist (1931-2008)

Former Tillinghast actuary Jack Turnquist, 76, an early champion of actuarial standards and a long-time leader in US professionalism efforts, died of cancer in February in Dallas.

A charter member of the American Academy, Jack had served as Academy president, Conference of Consulting Actuaries president, and Actuarial Standards Board chairperson, among other leadership positions. He was vice-chairperson of the Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline (ABCD) at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Edith, and their five children.
